About Us
BMC is an informal group of aviation
enthusiasts and pilots interested in the lighter side of aviation,
particularly aircraft and microlights. Although we are loosely based in
Buckinghamshire, we welcome members from far and wide. Our history dates
back to 1981—some 45 years ago—making this the perfect time for a
realignment.
What We Do
- Meetings on the first Tuesday of each month
- Flying reports and organizing events
- Trips, flyouts, and competitions
- Strong ties with BMAA and LAA
- Safety discussions at every meeting
- We meet up on a monthly basis, (currently at the Churchill Arms in
Long Crendon on the first Tuesday of the month) for discussions, flying
reports, organizing events and sometimes with a speaker. At every
meeting we discuss safety matters.
- We organize trips, flyouts, and competitions.
- We have close ties to the British Microlight Aircraft Association
(BMAA) and the Light Aircraft Association (LAA) and our members use
their facilities for permits, licenses etc.
- We follow closely any changes to the regulations with regard to
aviation and flying and keep a close watch on the CAA and where
necessary we try to input into their thinking.
- We welcome members from other flying clubs and associations and in
particular we welcome any new-comer to flying and offer help and advice.
While we do not undertake any training as such, we can assist in
finding appropriate instructors and courses.
- We take a great interest in safety and all our meetings have sections dedicated to enhancing safe flying for our members.
Our Aircraft
Our members own a variety of aircraft; some of them are shown here and in the sections below
